About Louisa:

Louisa was born and raised in Barnstaple. She is married to Keith and they currently live in Lower Newport with their two sons.

She was elected as the Mayor of Barnstaple in 2022 and has had a busy year supporting community groups and getting involved with setting up the first Barnstaple Repair Café. Her mayoral charities are the North Devon Forum for Autistic Spectrum Conditions and ADHD, The Veterans Charity and Encompass South West.

She has enjoyed her first term as a North Devon District Councillor and has an excellent attendance record. She is a representative to One Barnstaple and Go North Devon. She is also the Chair of the NDC Licensing & Community Safety Committee.

With a degree and past career in librarianship, she now owns and runs a childcare business. She was a governor at Newport Community School Primary Academy for six and a half years. Pretty techie, and, a keen knitter, she also makes time for Newport residents’ issues.

She said: "I thoroughly enjoy being a Local Councillor and do my best to support residents or signpost them to the correct places. We have a few ongoing issues in our ward which need a broader plan and together with my ward colleagues we are working  to achieve those long-term aims.”

The Lib Dem Newport Focus Team gets involved regularly with local litter picks with the Newport RAP Team. For more details visit the  ‘Newport, Barnstaple Focus Team’ Facebook page.
